What to expect/caveats

What to Expect at Your Counselling Appointment

Finding the Studio

The entrance to the studio can be a little hidden. The turning is located beside the brick-built bridge keeper’s hut. Drive up past the boats and continue until you see the wooden building ahead. Parking is available on the far side of the building in the spaces marked “Coterie Holistic Wellness.”

The studio entrance is along the front, with the canal on your right-hand side. You’ll see the large glazed doors — I’ll be there to greet you on arrival.

Your Comfort and Environment

As this is a shared wellness space, we operate a no-shoes policy. While this may feel a little unusual at first, it’s a wonderfully grounding practice. For your comfort, spa-style slippers are available should you prefer to wear them.

Your physical comfort is very important to me. Tea, coffee, and water are available, and there are toilet facilities on-site. If you have any accessibility needs or particular concerns about your visit, please let me know beforehand so that we can make suitable arrangements together.

During Your Session

Each counselling session lasts 60 minutes (unless we’ve agreed otherwise). There’s no need to keep an eye on the clock — I’ll gently let you know as we near the end of the session. This allows time to check in on how you’re feeling, ensure you’re grounded, and discuss anything that may need attention before your next appointment.

Payment and Cancellations

Payment is usually requested at the time of booking. If you’d prefer to pay in cash at your appointment, please let me know in advance so we can make suitable arrangements.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice . Cancellations made with less notice may still be charged in full.
In my experience, it’s often when attending feels most emotionally challenging that the most significant breakthroughs occur.

If I need to postpone an appointment due to illness, I will always give you as much notice as possible and arrange a new time that suits you.

If you are unable to attend in person, we can arrange a remote session — please let me know in advance so I can prepare accordingly.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a fundamental part of our work together and is maintained in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Any written records are securely stored in a locked cabinet accessible only to me. Notes are coded and contain no identifiable personal information.

Emails, names, and phone numbers are stored securely and password-protected.
I take every measure to ensure your privacy and the protection of your personal data.

Confidentiality may only be broken under exceptional circumstances, and I will always discuss this with you first wherever possible. These exceptions include:

When you provide consent or request that confidentiality be broken.

When I believe there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or another person.

When I am legally compelled by a court of law.

When statutory law requires disclosure (e.g. terrorism, drug trafficking, child or vulnerable adult abuse, or modern slavery).
